Your path into the center may be either path D or path E, depending upon the danger posed by the monsters.Īfter Chart 6, merely clear the energizers, without worrying about chasing monsters. When you get to the northwest corner in Chart 6, eat some dots (you don't have to eat the energizer at this point) and then get the symbol a second time. If you do, you will rack up 6000 bonus points (400 + 800 + 1600 + 3200).įor Charts 5 and 6, follow the patterns. You will often be able to eat all four monsters as you continue along the path shown in Chart 4. Then continue clockwise, eating the symbol when you get to point C, you will start eating the invisible monsters. On Charts 3 and 4, hesitate and make a brief reverse at point B. When you approach point A in Chart 2, you may be tempted to move away from the light blue monster. Scores will vary because points per board completed fluctuate even more in P+ due to the larger monster-eating bonuses.įor Charts 1 and 2, just follow the path as depicted. Most players will have a six-figure score by that time. The pattern in Figure 1 works consistently up through the first Galaxian board and sometimes a board or two beyond that, depending upon the player's timing. The Pac-Man Plus boards are arranged as shown in Table 1. In the slow game, the first several boards are quite easy to clear improvisationally the pattern can be used to clear the advanced boards. (In conventional Pac-Man, the 100,000+ scorer must memorize several patterns.)Īs is the case with Pac-Man, there are two types of Pac-Man Plus games, a fast game and a slow game. The pattern is fairly easy to learn and is the only one that must be memorized for the first ten boards or so. I have developed a pattern that should allow the average player to score about 100,000 points on P+. When the monsters are in their vulnerable state, they occasionally become invisible, and one monster occasionally remains in his normal, dangerous predatory condition. Points awarded for eating monsters after eating a symbol (not an energizer) are twice as high as in the conventional game (400, 800, 1600, and 3200 points, respectively).ģ. The monsters revert to their vulnerable state if the player "eats" either an energizer or a symbol (only the energizer causes this transition in Pac-Man).Ģ. But there are key differences from the original game:ġ. Pac-Man Plus (I'll refer to it as "P+" from now on) has the same board layout as conventional Pac-Man (shown in Figure 1). The coin-op manufacturers went to court and succeeded in getting a ruling making these illegal.) The Pac-Man Plus chip, which fits into the regular Pac-Man cabinet, is legal because it is manufactured by Bally, the makers of the original game. One of the new games, Pac-Man Plus, has a secure place in the annals of the arcade history because it is the first widely-used legal "speed-up chip." " (In 1982, third party manufacturers began producing revised chips for some of the coin-ops to make it more difficult for players to score millions of points and tie up the machines for hours on end. It's good news once again for methodical, cerebral-type players, because both of these renditions, in varying degrees, can be mastered by using patterns. Bally, mindful of the Pac-Pot of gold behind the well-known smiling yellow video megastar, soon came out with two more versions which have been popping up in arcades across the country over the last several months. (I have seen some patterns that lead to high Ms Pac-Man scores, but they don't work with the consistency of the Pac-Man patterns.) Pac-Man because, unlike the Pac-Man monsters, the new pursuers did not move in totally predictable patterns through the maze. In early 1982, the first Pac-Man spin-off appeared on the scene, a distaff version of the monster maze game, called Ms. Some patterns enabled players to continue almost indefinitely. Hundreds of players racked up enormous Pac-Man scores, well into the millions, using pre-determined patterns of movement through the maze. It far out-scored the two previous hits: Space Invaders, which is credited by many with starting the arcade explosion in 1979, and Asteroids, the star of 1980. Pac-Man, of course, is The King Of The Coin-Op Games. In this article, Ken brings us up-to-date on how to play the two recent Pac-Man variations now popular in the arcades. Mastering Pac-Man was listed for weeks on best-seller lists across the country, including those of The New York Times and Publishers' Weekly 1.7 million copies of this classic were printed. Ken Uston is the author of Mastering Pac-Man (Signet Books, January, 1982), the first and most widely-sold book on how to play the classic arcade game.

The game reacts immediately to the players' actions too, so the effects of altering one panel can instantly be seen in all the others. You just choose a story element, drop it into position on one of the blank panels, and then watch as it comes to life in all its cartoonish, hand drawn glory. The controls are straightforward and easy to pick up. The best part of Storyteller is how inviting it is. Both solutions fit the requirements, but one allows for a little more narrative flair. Then again, with a few extra pieces and a shuffling of events, you could instead wind up with a story of a rejected suitor taking out his or her competition in a jealous rage. For example, when given the prompt "Story of a Tragedy," you could have two characters meet under the "Love" backdrop, then simply use the "Death" backdrop to kill off one half of the couple and be done with it. The challenge comes from sorting out exactly how to meet the criteria for the given description. There are no time limits to come up with solutions for each challenge, so there's no rush to sort out how each story should unfold. What Storyteller does is break down the process into its basic elements while giving players a wide latitude of freedom to find their own voices and to express their creativity in unique ways. Show moreĪ puzzle game built around telling stories might seem a bit odd on paper, but talk to any writer worth their salt and it makes a lot of sense. After all, you are the author and it's your story to tell. With a diverse roster full of literary characters and a range of themes at your disposal, you're free to experiment and find your own unique interpretation. Why stop there? You could combine the two ideas and regale your readers with the legend of how a lonely monster found its true love. Or maybe a classic monster horror is more to your liking to fit the bill. Your tale could be a heartfelt romance filled with loves lost and found. A well placed plot twist might shake things up and still meet the criteria. Just keep in mind that there's usually more than one way for a story to unfold. You're in control of the narrative, as you place each available character or setting in the comic book styled panels to match the page's plot description. In this unique reactive puzzle game, it's up to you to take key story elements and piece them together to craft quirky tales centered on a series of given themes. In STORYTELLER, the pen is truly mightier than the sword. Most of us get our Ninja Foodi and immediately wonder how to use it? Then, the next question is how can I cook a whole chicken in the Ninja Foodi? I’m going to help you with that today. The garlic should be soft enough to mash up into the broth to create a wonderfully flavorful gravy. This Ninja Foodi Whole Chicken will knock your socks off, it’s that good and ready to serve in just about an hour or less! Cover and cook on the OVEN setting at 350 degrees until juices run clear. Insert roasting rack into the unit and place chicken on roasting rack. Put garlic cloves and chicken broth into the pot. Once all sides are seared, remove chicken from unit. Sear all sides of the chicken until golden (about 5 minutes per side). Generously sprinkle garlic and herb seasoning blend all over the chicken. Meanwhile spread olive oil on the inside and outside of the whole chicken. Preheat the Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System on the STOVETOP HIGH setting for about 2 minutes. I’m sure I’ll be sharing many recipes using my Ninja but for now I am going to share with you my favorite meal that I have made so far:ġ whole chicken (remove gizzards, rinse, and pat dry) I can’t wait to see how moist it comes out using the steam baking function. I am surprising my girls on Friday by making a cake with them using my Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System. Last week I roasted tomatoes to make a homemade tomato sauce and I have used it to make beef stew with the slow cooking setting. I’ve used the stovetop setting to make stirfry and other sautéed vegetables and I’ve used the oven setting to roast cauliflower with just a small amount of extra virgin olive oil and some herbs. I’ve used it several times to cook vegetables. I have made so many things in my Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System since I received it. That’s how great the nonstick surface is. Of course I washed it with warm soapy water after wiping it out with a paper towel, but I have to say that looked very clean just wiping it with a paper towel. I was really amazed the first time I went to clean my Ninja cooking system and I was able to just wipe it out with a paper towel to get rid of all the leftover food. The roasting lid, multipurpose pan, and roasting rack are not dishwasher safe but they can all be simply cleaned with warm, soapy water as well. The cooking pot has a nonstick surface so you can simply clean it with warm soapy water or can be washed in the dishwasher. Cleaning the Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System is so easy. No more worrying about someone knocking over the sterno. This would be great at a party or potluck. You can use it for food that you already cooked in the slow cooker or for food already prepared that you want to keep warm. The Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System also has a buffet mode to keep food warm from 30 min. You can also use the oven settings just like a regular oven to roast and to bake. You can adjust the temperature with the oven function anywhere from 250☏ to 425☏. The cooking time with this method will be similar to your recipes but you can add less butter and oil into your cake recipes so you’ll be saving fat and calories. You can steam baked by pouring liquid in the cooking pot and then placing the roasting rack into the cooking pot with a baking pan on top. The oven functions on the Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System are so versatile. It has a large surface area so I can easily sauté my meal, use it to make stirfried, cook pasta, and so many other dishes using the stovetop setting. Plus it is so portable that I can take it with me anywhere to cook. I love that I can cook a complete meal without turning on my oven or using my stovetop. Now you can sear your food with the stovetop setting, add the rest of your ingredients, and then set the dial to slow cooking at a low or high temperature. When you’re using the stovetop function you can set it to low if you want to simmer your food, set it to medium to sauté, or set it high to sear your food. The cooking system also has low, medium, and high stovetop settings as well as several oven functions. It looks similar to a slow cooker, and while it does have a slow cooking feature, it does so much more. I recently received a Ninja 3 in 1 Cooking System that totally solves this problem. You can either dirty a second pot and sear the meat first or you can skip searing the meat and end up with a dish that looks very blah. Most of the time you have two options if you’re going to use a slow cooker. Disclosure- I received samples of the product(s) mentioned below to facilitate my review but all opinions are 100% my own. However, the 80s power suit look was augmented by the time’s black designers like Willi Smith and Patrick Kelly to comprise unique colors and stylistic elements characteristic of black and African cultures. The original look was characterized by sharp, tailored lines and oversized shoulder pads for a more assertive silhouette. How to upgrade your old Mac with OpenCore Giving them a second life with this update is still a good option if we don’t get too many illusions. Perhaps you have already replaced them with a newer Mac or are in the process of doing so. It is not an exact science.īut we are talking about equipment that already they have given their all. And in some cases, you may run into one-off hardware issues. There are functions that will not be active to avoid performance problems. That you can upgrade your old or outdated Mac to Big Sur, Monterey or Ventura It doesn’t mean that everything will go smoothly. But given the progress that has been made so far, it seems likely that people with 2012-and-newer Macs should still be able to run Ventura on their Macs without giving up graphics acceleration or other important features. Before you get your hopes up, let’s be real. Grymalyuk still won't speculate about a timeframe for official Ventura support in OCLP. The OCLP team still has other challenges to surmount, not least of which will involve automating all of these hacks so that users without a deep technical understanding of macOS's underpinnings can continue to set up and use the bootloader. By extracting and installing those files in Ventura, you can re-enable support on Ivy Bridge and older CPUs without AVX2 instructions.Īnd this week, Grymalyuk showed off another breakthrough: working graphics support on old Metal-capable Macs, including machines as old as the 2014 5K iMac, the 2012 Mac mini, and even the 2008 cheese grater-style Mac Pro tower. First, while macOS doesn't technically include system files for pre-AVX2 Intel CPUs, Apple's Rosetta 2 software does still include those files, since Rosetta 2 emulates the capabilities of a pre-AVX2 x86 CPU. "Best time frame would be 6 months from now when a proper build of OpenCore Legacy Patcher can be released, but even this is difficult to promise."īut progress has been made, despite that initial pessimism. "Looking at all the issues in front of us, I don't believe there's any short-term possible fixes for the community to use," wrote project lead Mykola Grymalyuk in June. That Github post is a bit downbeat about the future of Ventura support on those older machines. This includes my early 2008 Mac Pro (Nvidia Kepler and AMD GCN 1), 2012 Mac mini, 2014 Mac mini and 2014 5k iMac! /cMQ5Qk8uoo- Mykola Grymalyuk August 22, 2022 But because Monterey continued to support the Ivy Bridge-powered 2013 Mac Pro and the Haswell-powered 2014 Mac mini, the OS still retained some baseline level of support for those processors (and accompanying GPU and chipset hardware) that made it easier to get Monterey running on other Macs with the same chips.Īfter many months of work, we’ve finally gotten macOS Ventura running on legacy Metal GPUs! In macOS Monterey, for example, Apple had officially dropped support for a whole lot of 2012, 2013, and 2014-era Mac models that used Intel's 3rd-generation (Ivy Bridge) and 4th-generation (Haswell) CPUs. OCLP and the dosdude1 patchers could usually lean on some older-but-officially-supported models to extend support to unsupported Macs with similar hardware. But this approach has gotten more difficult as Apple removes more and more Intel Mac support from macOS. In some past years, the hardware differences between "supported" and "unsupported" Macs could be so small that the only thing you'd need to do to boot new macOS versions is trick the bootloader into thinking it was running on a slightly newer Mac. The OCLP developers have admitted that macOS Ventura support will be tough, but they've made progress in some crucial areas that should keep some older Macs kicking for a little bit longer. It's an offshoot of the OpenCore Hackintosh bootloader, and it's updated fairly frequently with new features and fixes and compatibility for newer macOS versions. Tools like XPostFacto and LeopardAssist could help old PowerPC Macs run newer versions of Mac OS X, a tradition kept alive in the modern era by dosdude1's patchers for Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, and Catalina.įor Big Sur and Monterey, the OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP for short) is the best way to get new macOS versions running on old Macs. Skirting the official macOS system requirements to run new versions of the software on old, unsupported Macs has a rich history. Handbrake also can’t combine multiple video clips into one, create DVDs, Blue-ray, AVCHD, or make cocktails (yet). In the past, you may have been able to use Handbrake to copy content from places like Netflix and iTunes, but currently, it no longer works. This means you can’t copy video forms that have Digital Rights Management (DRM). Handbrake can no longer rip videos by circumventing or defeating copy protection. It’s important to note the limitations of Handbrake as well, as there are specific tasks it can’t perform due to recent updates or misinformation. Amateur users won’t need or know how to use many of the tools, and there are little to no tutorials available apart from the documentation, which is quite technical. For a free program, Handbrake offers many valuable features for video post-production. For a slashed price, the expansions and packs seem like they’re worth it.
